WF-1000XM4 is Sony’s third-generation TWS true wireless noise-canceling headset product. Sony skipped M2 from WF-1000X to WF-1000XM3 and followed the tradition of two-year replacement.
Let me start with the conclusion: WF-1000XM4 is the TWS headset with the best noise reduction and sound quality you can currently buy.
The WF-1000XM4 charging box is much smaller, 40% smaller than the previous generation, and almost the same as the AirPods Pro. The headset body is also much smaller than the previous generation, and the design is still bean-shaped. A single unit weighs 7.3g and is not cumbersome to wear.
The first function point: noise reduction. The WF-1000XM4 headphone unit is equipped with dual feedback microphones, which capture rich and clear ambient sound. Secondly, it is equipped with Sony’s new V1 integrated processor, which has more advanced processing performance, can quickly respond to changing high-frequency noise, and can accurately identify and calculate the reverse sound waves of low-frequency noise. The newly designed 6mm highly flexible diaphragm drive unit magnet volume has increased by 20%, so that the sound waves calculated for low-frequency noise can emit more accurate noise-canceling frequencies, thereby enhancing the performance of low-frequency noise reduction. Finally, a more sound-proof soft polyurethane foam earplug is used to physically isolate more noise that can be directly transmitted to the ear to achieve the most optimized noise reduction effect.

The second key function point: sound quality. WF-1000XM4 supports LDAC, the highest bit rate is 990kbps transmission, DSEE Extreme sound quality improvement technology can perform real-time AI analysis of music, and optimize vocal instruments. Now I can say without hesitation that the sound quality of WF-1000XM4 can also compete with WI-1000XM2, and the dynamic release is very powerful.
Experience: Daily use. The call module of WF-1000XM4 uses microphone beamforming technology and bone conduction technology to improve call sound quality; also uses LDS technology to engrave the antenna and touchpad on the outermost position of the fuselage; in terms of battery life, WF-1000XM4 provides a maximum of 12 hours, a single battery life of 8 hours with noise reduction, the charging box also supports Qi wireless charging, and can fully charge the headset twice.
Based on the above points, I can say that WF-1000XM4 is currently Sony’s best TWS headset and one of the best TWS true wireless headsets in the industry. However, there are some shortcomings. For example, WF-1000XM4 does not currently support multi-device convenient switching. Does not support a pop-up pairing window, so there will be some inconvenience when changing devices.
