iOS 16.1 bug: some iPhone users to randomly disconnect from Wi-Fi

According to reports on Reddit, Twitter (1,2,3,4) and Apple’s support community forums, users are reporting that their iPhones regularly disconnect from Wi-Fi, sometimes randomly, after updating to iOS 16.1 .

According to what users shared, they said their iPhones would disconnect periodically throughout the day, and sometimes randomly, even though their environment had not changed. Other users have reported that their iPhones sometimes disconnect from Wi-Fi when they are in static standby, such as overnight. Some users have tried resetting all network settings on their iPhones, but the reset doesn’t seem to work.

Released last week, iOS 16.1 is the first major update to the iOS 16 operating system since its September release. iOS 16.1 brings several new features to iPhone users, including live events.

Apple this week began beta testing of iOS 16.2, the next major update to the operating system, expected to be released later in November. It’s unclear if Apple plans to release an interim update to fix the Wi-Fi bug and other issues users are experiencing.
