According to our latest message, there is a tipster, he has shared the consolidated specs for AMD’s rumored RX 6900 XT successor, the Radeon RX 7900 XT. According to the leaked specs, the 7900 XT will be an MCM part, with two GPU dies, totaling 15,360 shader cores.
AMD perhaps ditch the CU (compute unit) as an element of GPU design, in favor of what’s being described as a WGP (Work Group Processor).
Though there appear to be significant changes to the shader side of things, we’re looking at a memory configuration that’s relatively similar to Navi 21, with a 256-bit bus connected to GDDR6 VRAM, though we’ll likely see higher VRAM frequencies.
The RX 7900 XT is expected to equip the higher Infinity Cache allocation, too. This would help offset potential latency issues between the dual GPU dies. As with the RDNA2 family, this could also help offset relatively lower levels of memory bandwidth compared to NVIDIA parts.
The RDNA3 part is set to be fabricated on TSMC’s 5nm process. The power efficiency and size benefits from the smaller process could mean that that the 7900 XT still manages to hit clockspeeds on par with RDNA2 hardware. All in all, we could be looking at a new flagship with over twice the gaming capabilities of its predecessor.
