A weird drawing of Nord 2 was shared by OnePlus, it confirms leaked renders were right

As for the launch event of the OnePlus Nord CE, the company took a unique approach. The launch video had a semblance of a plot, with the video’s presenter getting captured and interrogated in a sometimes-funny but mostly-awkward scene.

Seems like the company will try something like this again for the launch of the OnePlus Nord 2. Today, on the Nord Instagram account, the company shared the image below. It appears to show a Nord 2 surrounded by what we can only assume are characters in what OnePlus calls, “OnePlus Nord: Part Deux, a riveting blockbuster product launch.”

Regardless of whatever this picture is supposed to mean, it does appear to confirm the rear design of the Nord 2. Incidentally, the design matches the previously leaked renders from reliable leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer.

We would need to wait until July 22 to find out what the other, uhhh…stuff in this illustration means. For now, though, we can close out the week by knowing the OnePlus Nord 2 is going to basically be a watered-down OnePlus 9R, which was itself a watered-down version of the OnePlus 9.

OnePlus has been drip-feeding Nord 2 features ahead of the July 22 launch date, confirming chipset and screen details in recent days. Now, the manufacturer has turned to the main camera, and it looks like the mid-range device has some impressive hardware.

OnePlus took to its community forum to reveal that the Nord 2 will offer a 50MP IMX766 main camera sensor with optical image stabilization. The IMX766 is the same sensor used for the ultra-wide cameras on the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. This sensor has also been used as the main and ultra-wide cameras for the Oppo Find X3 Pro.

OnePlus also confirmed the phone will use the high-end MediaTek Dimensity 1200 — a fair upgrade over the Snapdragon 765G. However, the phone seemingly won’t see core design changes. The Nord 2’s 90Hz 6.44-inch OLED panel doesn’t differ much from the Nord’s display on paper. Battery life may only benefit from a slim 385mAh increase.
