Apex Legends Getting Star Wars Weapon Charms

As with each Star Wars Day, scheduled on May 4 because of its association with the phrase May the Force be with you, many video gamers and otherwise have been releasing content themed after the popular multimedia franchise. On top of artwork and marketing materials like a Star Wars-themed Biomutant trailer, certain fans of Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends can now get their hands on unique weapon charms in the battle royale.

Electronic Arts, which is Apex Legends’ publisher, has a long history with the Star Wars franchise, overseeing the modern Star Wars Battlefront games, Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and more. Another big launch as part of its Star Wars Day celebration was the final cosmetic DLCin Star Wars Squadrons, a spacefaring dogfight simulator developed by EA Motive and released October 2020.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can claim two weapon charms today based on Rebel and Empire pilot helmets to “dominate the Apex Games,” according to the official EA Play Twitter account. The deal appears to only be available today based on EA Play’s tweet and an Xbox Wire post yesterday detailing new content “coming soon” to Xbox Game Pass. Neither source stipulates when the deal will end, so players of Apex Legends with an Ultimate subscription should claim the perk as soon as possible.

The arrangement between Xbox Game Pass and EA Play makes sense following the launch of EA Play Support on Game Pass for PC in March. Fans who are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass at all levels can play lots of EA games as a result, from The Sims 4 and Battlefield to Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall series. Star Wars games including Jedi: Fallen Order and Squadrons are also included in the deal.

Fans of Apex Legends should find now a good time to jump into the game, regardless of whether or not they have a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Apex Legends Season 9 released today at 10:00 a.m. PT, adding a new Legend related to the Titanfall universe, a map update, a game mode, and more. This release proved to be so popular that Apex Legends servers crashed amid the Season 9 launch.

Those who have no access to Xbox Game Pass or EA Play can also find many deals on Star Wars video games for May 4. The aforementioned Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and Squadrons are on sale this year, alongside plenty of titles in the LEGO Star Wars and Jedi Knight franchises. This should offer numerous Star Wars action to go around even for those who skip out on the Apex Legends charms.
