However, according to the latest Apple Support Apple official website, it is confirmed that HomePod and HomePod mini can support lossless music through software updates.
Apple Apple’s support webpage pointed out that the lossless audio compression technology adopts the Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) format developed by itself, and the lossless audio Applle Music can be streamed through cellular mobile network or Wi-Fi wireless network.
Although HomePod and HomePod mini currently use AAC format high-end audio encoding, it can already experience sound quality similar to the original recording studio, but Apple also said that in the future, it will release a dedicated software update for HomePod and HomePod mini to provide support for lossless sound quality music.
