Over 10 Million Phones Installed HarmonyOS in a Week, Android: Serious?

One of the Chinese electronics giants, Huawei, has confirmed that the number of devices already installed with the HarmonyOS operating system has reached around 10 million smartphones in less than a week since its official launch on June 2, 2021.

The company Huawei targets around 360 million smartphones that will run HarmonyOS by the end of this year, and next year’s plan, 2022, Huawei targets to install HarmonyOS on smartphones with a target of installing around 12.3 billion units.

Not only on smartphones, but Huawei also plans to install HarmonyOS in various household smart appliances and systems in cars. This plan is quite promising and Huawei also hopes for developers who want to join HarmonyOS to cooperate.

Currently, HarmonyOS 2.0 has become the official operating system that is available for the Mate 40, P40, and Mate 30 series smartphones without having to update the system again. HarmonyOS 2.0 has also been installed on the MatePad Pro tablet.

Huawei management said that the beta testing of HarmonyOS 2.0 is still only on Huawei P30, Honor 30, and Honor V30 smartphones which will start this month, and the public beta will be released in July 2021, which means anyone can use HarmonyOS services.

The provision of the new Huawei operating system coincides with the digital competition conflict between China and America, including the boycott of Huawei products by America during the Donald Trump era. In addition to imposing sanctions on Huawei, America also boycotted several applications made in China, this is the beginning of the digital war between Huawei and America.

If Huawei’s plan to successfully install HarmonyOS in 12.3 billion smartphone units by the end of 2022 does not rule out the possibility of competition between Android, iPhone and HarmonyOS will be very fierce. In a sense, Huawei will increase the number of HarmonyOS installations on smartphones every year.

Huawei’s mission is to attract app developers to join their operating system.
