Apple Says iOS 16 Update Coming Soon, Fixes Ad-Related Issues

According to the company’s system status page, Apple is working on an iOS 16 update to fix issues related to its advertising framework SKAdNetwork. Apple said the problem began on November 3, but did not provide any additional details.

“For users on iOS 16.1, there is an issue affecting SKAdNetwork,” Apple said. “We are working to quickly resolve this issue with a software update.”

SKAdNetwork enables advertisers to measure the success of an ad by attributing app installs to a specific ad campaign – in other words, it allows advertisers to see how successful an ad is in driving users to download an app from the App Store. Released with SKAdNetwork 4.0 two weeks ago, iOS 16.1 provides advertisers with more performance insights, adds support for web ads, and includes other improvements.

Earlier today, we reported that Apple is preparing an update to iOS 16.1.1 that hopefully will fix this bug and the issue of Wi-Fi randomly disconnecting on some iPhones. iOS 16.2 is also in beta testing and is expected to be released in December.

We’ve reached out to Apple for comment on this matter and will update this story if we receive any additional information.
