Can’t believe it will work! The Ryzen 9 5900HX APU has been put in a 14-inch subnotebook

According to the news, guys, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro 14ACH5 scores points with its powerful Ryzen 9 5900HX APU, 16 GB of RAM, and a 14-inch display (2880×1800 pixels, 90 Hz, IPS) in the 16:10 format. This is accompanied by good battery life as well as low noise and heat development.

Slim, compact, and mobile 14-inch laptops are usually equipped with energy-saving ULV CPUs (15 to 28 watts). Lenovo takes a different approach with the Yoga Slim 7 Pro 14ACH5 and equips it with the Ryzen 9 5900HX APU (octa-core processor, Vega 8 iGPU), a 45-watt model that’s actually intended for gaming laptops or mobile workstations.

Actually, the performance development presents no problems. The processor and graphics core can run at high speeds for long periods of time. In other words, the Yoga delivers a lot of processing power overall. In spite of this, the laptop only warms up moderately, and it only emits a small amount of noise over the entire load range.

The APU is supported by 16 GB of RAM (dual-channel mode) and a 1 TB SSD (NVMe, M.2-2280). Expanding the RAM is not possible; it’s soldered, and there are no RAM slots. That said, the SSD can be replaced with a larger-capacity model.

In fact, only 1 battery charge is enough for real-world runtimes of 10 to 13 hours. The energy is replenished via the USB-C port. The included power adapter can be connected to both USB-C ports (USB 3.2 Gen 2). Both support Power Delivery and DisplayPort via USB-C.

The glossy 14-inch display (2880×1800 pixels, 90 Hz, IPS) in the 16:10 format offers stable viewing angles, high brightness, excellent contrast, very decent color reproduction, and good color-space coverage.
