Review: iQOO 5 proves that it is not just a “gaming phone”

Since the establishment of the brand, iQOO officials have always emphasized that it is “not an e-sports phone”, but the performance and design of the product are enough to make you enjoy playing games.

But even so, most users still define their flagship as a “gaming phone.”

On the one hand, it affirms the performance of speed, heat dissipation, control feel, endurance, etc., but on the other hand, it also reveals some subtext, that is, iQOO’s mobile phone does not appear to be outstanding in terms of appearance and photography.

Hardware performance is the foundation of iQOO, so the iQOO 5 series is not surprisingly also equipped with Snapdragon 865 and up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

Facing a variety of popular games, its playing fluency is very good, and the temperature control of the equipment is also very well done.

However, in order to make way for the new design, the factory this time removed the middle frame L and R capacitor keys that had always been present in iQOO high-end phones in the past.

For users who want this feature, they can only ask for additional accessories.

In addition, in terms of vibration, the standard version and Pro version of iQOO 5 have built-in linear motors for the Z axis and X axis respectively, which is of course better than the experience of the latter.

It is worth mentioning that in this generation of products, iQOO removed the 3.5mm headphone jack for the first time. To be honest, this is still a bit disappointing.

But like X50 Pro+, it still has a built-in CS43131 high-dynamic Hi-Fi chip, which means that after plugging in a USB-C headset without DAC or an adapter cable, the Hi-Fi in the phone is still good.

In terms of listening experience with headphones, the iQOO 5 series is indeed very similar to the X50 Pro+. The quality is very good, but it will be more troublesome to use.

As for endurance, the 4,000mAh battery of this phone in 120Hz mode can barely cope with the intensity of use from morning to night in the working day.

But because of the change in charging habits, the author did not feel any anxiety about battery life during the test.

On the standard version of iQOO 5, the factory added the battery to 4,500mAh, but the power of the wired fast charge was reduced to 55W.

Don’t worry about its endurance in actual use, the battery charge time is almost 45 minutes.
