According to DigiTimes, in addition to Samsung, LG may also be involved. Last year, Samsung provided samples to Apple for testing, but Apple also got help from LG in the process of developing a foldable iPhone. LG accepts Apple’s commission, in addition to technical reasons, it is estimated that there are also supply factors. If it is possible, Apple will not put eggs in the same basket in many cases, so that it has room for adjustment and choice.
It is understood that there are currently two screen folding options for iPhone folding screen phones, one is a foldable iPhone that uses a 7-inch OLED screen and supports Apple Pencil, and the other is a flip-fold screen similar to Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. . At the same time, the folding screen will undergo a special chemical treatment to make it more durable. According to various sources, Apple is testing two prototypes at the same time, but prefers the latter because the probability of failure is lower. Apple is not in a hurry to use this technology right away, but hopes to wait until the technology is mature before launching it, rather than releasing a semi-finished product with a dazzling technology that exhibits poor performance like the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Samsung’s pace in this area is still very fast, Galaxy Z Fold 2 has made improvements, and Galaxy Z Fold 3 is coming soon.
